The official website for the Orange County Curling Club – The first, and only, Curling Club in Orange County. Started in January of 2010, we are a fun, and friendly club that welcomes players of all skill levels. With the support of Westminster ICE, we hope to keep the sport thriving for years to come in the greater Orange County area.

Curling is a team sport for all ages and abilities. The object of the game is for two teams of four players to slide 42 lb granite rocks down a sheet of ice toward the "House". A unique aspect of the sport is the concept of sweeping. Players vigorously sweep or brush the ice in front of the rock to keep it moving. The friction caused by sweeping, polishes and briefly heats the surface of the ice, which makes the rocks travel farther and straighter.

Winter 2012, 9-Week Curling League

The Orange County Curling Club, along with The-Rinks Westminster ICE is pleased to announce the 2012 Winter Curling League. This 9 Week League will run from January 28th through March 31th, 2012 (Saturday Nights)

Orange County Curling Club will be represented at the MoPac Club Playdowns by our Men's Team:

Justin McBride, Ken Millar, Ryan Harty and Mark Piskura

The MoPac Championships/Club Nationals Playdown dates are Jan 13th-15th, 2012. The site for this event is the Kearns Olympic Speed Skating Oval, which is located in one of the suburbs of Salt Lake City, Utah. This is the same facility that was built for the 2002 Olympic games and is now the Olympic Training Facility for the U.S. Speed Skating Team.

Last year, the OCCC Men's Team was honored to represent the MoPac Region at the Club National Championships in Mankato, MN.

Learn To Curl Classes:

The OC Curling Club at Westminster ICE offers Learn to Curl classes for those who are just learning to play or refreshing their skills. Learn to Curl classes include an instructional video, proper sweeping techniques, stone throwing, game etiquette, coaching on and off the ice, the anatomy of a curling shot and more!
